Towson still is searching for its first victory in the NCAA Tournament.
The Tigers were dominated in a 21-9 loss to fifth-seeded Syracuse on Sunday afternoon in upstate New York in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.
Syracuse junior attacker Katie Rowan set NCAA Tournament single-game records with 13 points and eight assists to go along with five goals, and sophomore midfielder Christina Dove added five goals and two assists. Sophomore Halley Quillinan had four goals and senior attacker Kristin Brady had three scores.
Towson was led by junior midfielder Hillary Fratzke, who scored three goals and sophomore midfielder Nikki Marcinik, who added two.
The Tigers ended their season 13-6, a week after winning the Colonial Athletic Association Tournament by beating George Mason and William & Mary to earn an automatic berth in the NCAA Tournament.
Towson was making its first appearance in the NCAA Tournament since losing to Georgetown in the first round in 2005.
The Tigers were dominated by the Orange (17-2) on Sunday for the second time this season, as Towson suffered a 22-5 loss in the Carrier Dome on March 19. But since that loss, the Tigers had won eight of 11 games to make the NCAA Tournament.
