An offensive turn of events for the Bills

One of the most dominant offenses in the NFL over the first seven games of the season has taken a turn for the worst. After averaging 30.1 points a game, the Bills have scored just 26 total points in three straight losses.

So what happened to the Cinderella story in Buffalo?

Quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick has thrown just two touchdowns to seven interceptions in losses to the Jets, Cowboys and Dolphins. Fitzpatrick’s top target, receiver Steve Johnson, has just four catches for 24 yards over the last two games. And NFL leading rusher Fred Jackson suffered a calf injury Sunday and could be out for the Bills’ next game vs. the Jets.

Buffalo’s offense isn’t all to blame. A defense that intercepted Tom Brady and Michael Vick four times each, hasn’t forced a turnover in the last two games.

But the offense needs to carry this team.

The Bills put together a group of castoffs consisting of an Ivy League passer, undrafted 30-year-old running back and eccentric seventh rounder at receiver. And somehow they made it work. Too bad it only lasted seven games.
