Glossy bumps some from annual guest list

Zimmerman’s out!

Society glossy Washington Life says that its annual “Young & The Guest List” is one of its most popular issues.

In the 2008 edition, which Yeas & Nays has gotten a sneak peak at (it hits newsstands next week), the magazine humbly writes: “The issue sells out in three days; we’re bombarded with lengthy nomination letters; and last year, more than a few wannabes tried to crash the party.” (People try to crash parties in

Washington?!? You don’t say!)

But, in an effort to make this year’s list more exclusive, the magazine has trimmed the number of names from nearly 250 last year to roughly 160 in the latest go-around.

That means there’s going to be a few tears for some of the 2007 honorees who failed to make this year’s list, such as Fox News staffer Sarah Elder, blond head turner Katherine Kennedy, Dutko Worldwide’s Anna Kimsey, former NBC News political director (and current media consultant) Elizabeth Wilner, student Joseph Robert III (sonof the other Joe Robert), Washington Nationals third baseman Ryan Zimmerman and lobbyist and former Capital Club President Matthew Lapinski.

“I guess I shouldn’t have spent so many nights at home washing my hair,” Lapinski told Yeas & Nays upon hearing the news.

Taking their place is a diverse roster of names that includes freshman Rep. Patrick Murphy, nightlife impresarios Michael Romeo and Michael Kosmides, Grooming Lounge owner Pirooz Sarshar, FOX5’s Will Thomas, the Abraham Group’s Jason van Buren, NBC4’s Lindsay Czarniak, Olympic gold medalist Dominique Dawes, Oscar nominees Andrea and Sean Fine, Miss United Kingdom Brooke Johnston, philanthropist Joanna Block, the Ashcroft Group’s Juleanna Glover, Thievery Corporation’s Eric Hilton and entertainment industry lobbyist Erik Huey.

The folks over at LateNightShots.com — Washington’s online hang-out for the preppy Georgetown set — have been posting away about this year’s list and the party. One called the Y&G list “an interesting gimmick” and another said “enjoy the party if you were lucky enough to be invited to one of the city’s most beautiful events.” And so it goes. …

To usher in this year’s youngest and, er, guestest, the magazine is throwing a swanky party at …  you’ll have to wait: To avoid all those party-crashers (and to add a bit of mystique to the evening), the magazine has instructed invitees to first meet at the St. Regis Hotel, after which they’ll be bused to the real party, held at a secret location. What we do know is the swag bag will really perk you up.

You’ll understand later.
