The Catonsville baseball team blanked Hereford, 7-0, on Monday and received another strong outing from staff ace Neal Davis.
The Virgina-bound standout pitched a no-hitter for the host Comets. He struck out 10and was two strikes away from a perfect game. His future team, Virginia, swept a series at Maryland this past weekend.
In other baseball news, the Boys? Latin baseball team shares first place in the Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association B Conference.
The Lakers scored four runs in the bottom of the first and needed just five innings to defeat Mount Carmel 10-0 on Monday, and regained an identical record with Chapelgate Christian, which also is 10-1.
Boys? Latin has won six straight games and actually has the largest share of first-place by virtue of its head-to-head win over Chapelgate. They would earn the top playoff seed if the teams finish tied for the top spot. Both teams have four games to play.
