Haynesworth experiment gone wrong for Patriots

Well, it didn’t take long for Albert Haynesworth to wear out his welcome again. On Tuesday, the New England Patriots released the defensive tackle. And Haynesworth outdid himself this time. His short stint with the Patriots was actually less productive than his time in Washington.

Haynesworth had just three tackles in six games played this season. In two years with the Redskins, the $100 million man produced 53 tackles and 6.5 sacks.

To think, Haynesworth was once one of the most disruptive defensive players (on the field) in the entire league when he was with the Titans. In 2008, he had 8.5 sacks and forced three fumbles.

But those days are long gone. It’s one thing to be an overpaid disruption in Washington, but if a veteran’s career can’t be resurrected by Bill Belichick and the Patriots, there’s no hope.

Haynesworth has dissolved to a 30-year-old looking for employment.

Who would want to take a chance on him now?
