Edgewood High School will start the search for a new varsity boys basketball coach this summer.
After two years at the helm, Terry Maczko has stepped down so he can take over as the head men?s basketball coach at Baltimore City Community College.

“It was a difficult decision to leave,” Maczko said. “My staff and I had made a difference in the community, with wins and losses and academic success as well.”
As head coach for two seasons at Edgewood, Maczko coached the Rams to a 29-19 record. Maczko graduated 11 seniors in 2006, nine of whom are attending four-year colleges.
Maczko, who is also the director of the Maryland Elite AAU basketball program, spent eight seasons as the head coach for the Community College of Baltimore County at Essex.
“I fully expect that we have the capability to put a winning team on the field,” Maczko said. Last year, BCCC had a record of 5-11.
Maczko?s coaching staff will include Harry Geddis, Jerry Phipps, Tony Smith and Patrick Young. Phipps was Maczko?s mentor before the latter was the head coach at Essex. Phipps is a former head coach at BCCC.
In other coaching news, Old Mill athletic director Bruce Lawton said Damien Ferragamo has been named to replace head football coach Mike Marcus. Marcus was the head coach for the past nine years.
Howard High football head coach David Glenn resigned for personal reasons, said athletic director Vince Parnell. Junior varsity assistant Al Feldblum, a former football assistant at Laurel and Springbrook, was chosen to replace Glenn.
At Oakland Mills High School, Dick Hendershot has resigned as the head football coach, but will remain as athletic director. Replacing Hendershot will be former Southern Illinois football star Seth Wellingham, an ex-Wilde Lake standout.
Hammond High school athletic director Joe Russo has announced a complete turnover in the Golden Bears? basketball program. Karl Freidheim, a former Hammond player, will be replacing Ricky Lee as the boys basketball coach. Former head coach Raymona Reid is leaving the girls? basketball team, and Chuck Spalding will be taking over.
