MONTREAL (AP) — Former Dallas Stars enforcer Shane Churla is joining the Montreal Canadiens as a scout after eight years in a similar role with his old team.
Churla has been an amateur scout with the Stars since 2005. He was a player when the franchise moved from Minnesota to Dallas in 1993.
The 47-year-old Churla was responsible for helping identify and evaluate draft-eligible players for the Stars.
Churla spent most of his career with Minnesota and Dallas. He also played for Hartford, Calgary, Los Angeles and the New York Rangers. He had 71 points and 2,301 penalty minutes in 488 games.
