After Ellen Degeneres referred to herself as the “Wolf Blitzer of daytime TV, but with less facial hair” in a promo for her talk show’s new season, Blitzer himself said he’d love to go on her show, or have her on his own program, CNN’s “The Situation Room.”
So as she was taping her show Wednesday evening, she called CNN, and her exchange with booker Jill Chappell aired Thursday. “Put me on with him,” Degeneres demanded.
“Now you’re being really funny,” Chappell replied. “He’s doing a live show right now.”
Chappell got Blitzer a message, but Degeneres couldn’t wait until the next commercial break, so she left Chappell with one question: “What’s with all his facial hair?”
Quick with a flattering reply about her boss, Chappell came back: “Don’t you think it makes him look smarter?”/>
