Snyder lands 980

Redskins owner Dan Snyder finally landed the major sports talk radio station he was looking, acquiring WTEM 980 AM from Clear Channel Communications. Also in the package will be two other stations, WTNT 570 AM and WWRC 1260 AM, and all stations are expected to continue their current formats.

Red Zebra Broadcasting will provide content for the stations starting July 1, under a separate agreement, as the deal is pending approval by the Federal Communications Commission.

“It has always been our goal to grow our company, expand our Redskins Radio footprint while also venturing into other forms of broadcast entertainment,” said Bruce Gilbert, CEO of Red Zebra Broadcasting.  “We are especially thrilled to be adding local sports talk icons John Thompson, Doc Walker, Brian Mitchell, Steve Czaban, Andy Polin and others to our team, which already includes Hall of Famer John Riggins.”
