Navy remains undefeated

Senior attack Ian Dingman scored three goals, including one with 5:20 left in the fourth quarter to help lead visiting Navy (8-0, 5-0 Patriot League) to a 6-3 victory over Bucknell (7-2, 1-1) in front of 1,025 fans at Christy Mathewson-Memorial Stadium. The Mids match their best start since 1986 and one which they previously hadn?t reached since 1965.

Navy now travels to play at Georgetown (4-2) in a game that has been changed to 1 p.m. according to the Hoyas Web site.

» UMBC HOLDS OFF OSU: Andy Gallagher scored five goals and had an assist and Drew Westervelt had three goals and two assists as the University of Maryland-Baltimore County (4-3), defeated visiting Ohio State (4-4), 11-9, on Sunday. The win gets the Retrievers back on track after losing three of its last four games. UMBC plays this Saturday when it opens its America East schedule at Albany.

» TERPS SWEEP TAR HEELS: Dan Groot had his second career hat trick as Maryland (7-2, 1-1 Atlantic Coast Conference) topped North Carolina (6-3, 0-2) Saturday, 14-8 at Chevy Chase Bank Field at Byrd Stadium. Freshman goalie Brian Phipps finished with 15 saves for Maryland, which next plays at 3 p.m. Saturday at Virginia.

On the women?s side, No. 4 Maryland got two goals and an assist from Dana Dobbie and 15 saves from goalie Alie Buote as the Terps defeated top-ranked North Carolina (8-1, 1-1), 8-6, on Saturday. The Terps next play at 3 p.m. Wednesday when they host Stanford.

» TOWSON WINS CAA OPENER: Towson goalie Matt Antol matched his career high with 15 saves while facing 37 shots as the Tigers (4-2, 1-0) defeated Villanova in their Colonial Athletic Association opener, 6-5, on Saturday. The Tigers are back in action again at 1 p.m. this Saturday when they host Robert Morris at Johnny Unitas Stadium.

» LOYOLA TOPS UMASS: Sophomore goalie Alex Peaty matched a career-high with 15 saves and seven Loyola players scored goals as the Greyhounds (4-2, 3-0 ECAC) defeated 2006 NCAA finalist Massachusetts (2-5, 0-1), 10-8, Saturday at Diane Geppi-Aikens Field on Saturday afternoon. Loyola goes after its fifth straight win at 1:05 p.m. this Saturday when it hosts Syracuse.

» UMBC WOMEN LOSE FOURTH STRAIGHT: Moira Talbot?s unassisted goal with 3:47 left broke a 9-9 tie and gave New Hampshire (4-3, 1-0 America East) a 10-9 victory over host University of Maryland-Baltimore County (3-6, 0-1 America East) Saturday. Jen Kasper, Ali Levendusky and Abbey Swift led the Retrievers with two goals and an assist each. The Retrievers return to action on Saturday when they play two-time defending America East champion Boston University.
