They are star players for programs that will be fighting for spots in the NCAA Tournament. They also have been forced to carry their teams for much of the season:
Luke Harangody, Notre Dame » The senior forward is having another typical season (24.2 ppg, 9.7 rpg), but the Irish are starting to buckle under the weight of the Big East schedule.
A little help please » Senior guard Tory Jackson is having the worst shooting season of his college career (.377 from the field, .339 from 3-point range).
James Anderson, Oklahoma State » The country’s No. 4 scorer (22.8 ppg) had 24 points in the first half against Texas on Monday. The problem? Anderson’s teammates combined for only 12, and the Longhorns pulled away late.
A little help please » Sophomore guard Keiton Page‘s minutes and points are slightly up, but all of his shooting numbers are down.
Devan Downey, South Carolina » The 5-foot-9 spark plug has scored 99 points in South Carolina’s last three games, including 30 in last week’s 68-62 win over Kentucky. With Dominique Archie (knee surgery) out for the season, Downey has taken over.
A little help please » Um, how about everybody? Aside from Downey, only one player (Brandis Raley-Ross) scores in double-figures.
