Amnesty International USA brought a real-size replica of a Guantanamo Bay prison cell to D.C. on Wednesday to highlight its opposition to torture. Participants in orange prison jumpsuits spelled out “stop torture” with signs and lay on the ground in front of the cell while Amnesty Executive Director Larry Cox encouraged the audience to imagine being in the cell. He called the detention facility a “shameful icon of United States contempt for human rights.”
