The Florida product by way of Friendly High School is considered the best corner in the draft, thanks to quick feet and an ability to play press or zone coverage. “He’s more physical than I gave him credit for,” said NFL Network draft analyst Mike Mayock. But if he runs around a 4.52 in the 40-yard dash, Mayock said, then there will be concerns about him going in the top 10.

The Redskins certainly will look hard at the University of Maryland product, who projects to left tackle, if he falls to the second round. He has the athleticism favored by coach Mike Shanahan. But buyer beware: “Bruce will be a phenomenal workout guy,” ESPN draft analyst Mel Kiper said, “but he didn’t always play like a first-round pick. If he had gone back, he would have been a top-10 pick next year.”

He has the size (6-foot-2, 220 pounds) and his speed is solid. The big concern for the Dunbar product at the combine is proving that he’s not injury prone after hurting (and playing through) a separated shoulder as a freshman and a high ankle sprain last year as a junior at Illinois. He wasn’t as productive in 2009, but his ankle and quarterback Juice Williams‘ passes didn’t help. “If he jumps out in certain areas,” Kiper said, “then he’s a first-round pick based on how he played before he got hurt and how he played when the quarterback could get him the ball.”
