The Redskins continued their busy day, addressing another defensive need by agreeing to terms with corner Josh Wilson.
The DeMatha graduate, and University of Maryland standout, will sign a three-year, $13 1/2 million with $6 million guaranteed according to ESPN, on Friday.
With Carlos Rogers exiting via free agency and Phillip Buchanon still on the market, the Redskins have a hole at corner. Among their top four from last season, only DeAngelo Hall and Kevin Barnes return. Barnes, entering his third season, remains unproven.
Wilson started 33 games in his first four seasons, including nine last year for Baltimore. The Ravens acquired him from Seattle last summer for a low-round draft pick. He’s considered a bit undersized at 5-foot-9, 192 pounds, but with excellent speed. That speed helps make him versatile as he can also return kicks, averaging 24.7 for his carer. In 2008, he returned 69 kickoffs for a 25.4 yard average. Wilson returned a combined 17 the past two seasons.
Wilson continues an overhaul on defense. The Redskins could have as many as six new starters when the season begins, at outside linebacker, inside linebacker, nose tackle, right end, safety and corner.
