Blatche expected to return vs. Miami; Booker may be done for the season

Andray Blatche is expected to make his return for the Wizards on Wednesday against the Miami Heat after a 10-game absence with a strained right shoulder – 11 if the game in which he suffered the injuryonly three minutes in is included – but head coach Flip Saunders said prior to shootaround that rookie forward Trevor Booker might be done for the season with a right foot injury that has kept him out of action for the last two games.

“We’re getting a second opinion on Trevor, but it looks like he might be done for the year,” Saunders said. “He might have a little crack in the bottom of his foot.”

Booker, who has averaged 10.2 points and 7.6 rebounds in 14 starts, is undergoing a CAT scan today.

Blatche is expected to play some minutes but Saunders wasn’t sure how many.

“[I’m] not 100 percent but able to play, able to help my teammates,” Blatche said. “We got a lot of guys that’s injured, and I’m one of the healthiest ones so I can pretty much come out and have an impact in the game.”

The Wizards got their team photo taken Wednesday morning, barely 24 hours after returning from a five-game road trip out West, their longest of the season. Washington won just one game during the trip, in overtime on Monday at Utah, but it was the last one and it came on the second night of a back-to-back set. Saunders was proud of how his team played, particularly in the win over the Jazz, but the first game of quintet, at Portland, is the only game during the trip that glaringly lacked a competitive effort.

“I was just impressed with the resilience of our young players, how hard they played,” Saunders said. “There’s no question that our young backcourt has been pretty dynamic at times, both John [Wall] and Jordan [Crawford]. They played extremely well together.”
