Sauter signs to play at LIU

Baltimore Lutheran senior pitcherAdam Sauter was slated to sign a letter-of-intent Wednesday (April 12), accepting an athletic scholarship to play Division I college baseball for Long Island University, according to headmaster Randy Gast.

The 6-feet-5, 185-pound left-hander attracted college scouts with a medley of off-speed pitches, including a change up, fastball and curve. He is expected to immediately challenge for a starting position for the Blackbirds, who are members of the Northeast Conference.

In the summer, Sauter struck out 62 batters in 47 innings with his American Legion team, while positing a 0.47 ERA. During the fall, Sauter plays with the Maryland Oriolelanders, a showcase team that includes some of the state?s top players.
