Palm Party Empties Fridge Before Face-Lift

Upturned Palm

The Palm’s long-awaited renovation begins today, and the power-lunch spot planned to go out with a bang, inviting some of its top customers to help it clean out the fridge on Tuesday night.

Among those who were expected to attend the private party in the restaurant’s front room: super lawyer Plato Cacheris, Akin Gump lobbyist Smith Davis, Marriott’s Colleen Evans and outgoing GWU President Steve Trachtenberg.

Larry King was even spotted having dinner in the restaurant to toast the occasion.

During its downtime, Palm brass is doubling the size of the bar, redesigning the kitchen, expanding the private dining room and adding a glass atrium.

An even bigger party is expected to be the grand reopening, sometime in September.
