Scott Clement of the Washington Post reports that, on the question of what to call the NFL team identified with the city of Washington, D.C., a large majority is content to stick with the name “Redskins.”
Public opinion continues to be lopsided in favor of keeping the name, with 71 percent saying it “should not” be changed in the new poll conducted for ESPN’s “Outside the Lines,”
There are many out in those wild regions known as “Beyond the Beltway,” who believe the name is not “disrespectful of Native Americans.”
Also, a good many who enjoy the spectacle of the imperial city’s elite caught in the tangles of Political Correctness.
