12:30pm CBS Day session
Tennis Channel possible night session if the day session is a washout.
This could be a very long and wet day for the crew at CBS. A strong rainmaker has come onshore here on the East coast and the there is a 100% chance of rain on and off all day today for New York. The rain figures to hang around and will still be a factor Saturday.
As of right now there is a hefty 70% chance of rain for New York on Saturday.
What we were hoping for today was the women’s semi final matches headlined by the Kim Clijsters- Serena Williams match. Many experts feel this match features the two best women playing at the U.S. Open.
Yanina Wickmayer takes on the new darling of the Open Caroline Wozniacki in the other women’s semi but they will have wait until Rafa Nadal finishes his match with Fernando Gonzalez.
The CBS crew is lead play-by-play announcer Dick Enberg who will be joined by expert analysts Mary Carillo and John McEnroe in the booth for the 10th consecutive year. Jim Courier is part of the CBS Sports’ U.S. Open announce team as an analyst and will call the action alongside Bill Macatee. Mary Joe Fernandez serves as reporter. Ian Eagle serves as contributor.
If things are pushed to a night session then the broadcast would move to the Tennis Channel and while that is unlikely to happen it remains an option.
The Super Saturday broadcast schedule could be altered to accommodate the rain issues. But we will keep you posted. Check me out on Twitter – www.twitter.com/wordmandc
Here is today’s match schedule when they can get underway.
