» The Redskins remain alive for the playoffs, but you would not know that from the quotes players have given this week. They know what it would take for them to make the postseason. Two words: a lot.

» Washington could be eliminated by the time it kicks off Sunday. If Dallas beats Baltimore Saturday night and if Tampa Bay beats San Diego at 1 p.m. Sunday, the Redskins are eliminated.

» Of course, a Redskins loss would do the trick as well. All of this makes you wonder — how many Eagle fans will invade FedEx Field on Sunday?

» Our preseason prediction? 7-9. But when the Redskins got to 6-2, it was hard not to envision them winning at least 10 games. The biggest worry? An aging roster and players who have a history of getting hurt. The Redskins need more energy on both sides of the ball — regardless of who is coaching. That comes from youth and players entering their prime. How many Redskins are legitimately entering their prime? A handful are in their prime.

» When executive vice president Vinny Cerrato has been in charge of the drafts — eight total — the Redskins have drafted five receivers. With three more catches, one of the five, Devin Thomas, will have 17 receptions — the most any in that group will have had with Washington.

» Under Cerrato, the Redskins have drafted 52 players. Only eight remain as full-time starters; a ninth, linebacker H.B. Blades, is only starting because of injury.

» That said, I’d like to see more of rookie Kareem Moore — if he can stay healthy, that is. He’s a punishing hitter. If he shows he can cover — and we really don’t know that yet — the Redskins would have a good young safety rotation. And he would allow LaRon Landry to play more in the box, where he can cause more problems.

» When quarterback Jason Campbell got off to a strong start, fans praised his ability to stay calm and even — medium, if you will. Now that the offense is struggling, people complain Campbell does not show leadership because he is too unemotional. So which one is it?

» The Redskins’ top offensive playmakers — Santana Moss, Clinton Portis and Chris Cooley — have a combined one touchdown in the past six games. They also have a combined zero plays for more than 29 yards.
