Ravens get some rave reviews

Welcome to the first edition of “Good Line, Bad Line,” our weekly critique of which NFL analysts said something insightful, and which should have kept their mouths shut. Here?s the best and worst from the major networks? NFL Pregame shows:

» Good Line: “The addition of Willis McGahee to Baltimore?s offense was a huge off season move. He is the first real breakaway back that the Ravens have had. That should openup the offense for Steve McNair to do plenty of play-action passing. Also, what team in football could lose Adalius Thomas and still have the best defense in football? They are a real Super Bowl contender.”

? ESPN analyst Ron Jaworski regarding the Ravens on Sunday NFL Countdown

» Bad Line: “I know that dog fighting goes on in the South, I saw it when I was a kid. I don?t condone what Michael [Vick] did but what is the difference between shooting deer and cutting their heads off and putting them on your wall or fighting dogs?”

? Dallas receiver Terrell Owens during an interview with ESPN?s Jim Gray

» Good Line: “The Chargers decided that they did not like going 14-3 last season. They fired the guy that got them there (Marty Schottenheimer) and kept the general manager. That makes no sense. Sure they have LaDainian Tomlinson and he is the best in the business but they need about five wide receivers because Phillip Rivers has none. They aren?t going 14-3 this season.”

? ESPN analysts Keyshawn Johnson regarding the San Diego Chargers Sunday on NFL Countdown

» Bad Line: Fox Insider Jay Glazer?s information on the Falcon players hating Michael Vick was pure rumor and had no substantiation. It was a cheap shot and piling on Vick.

» Good line: “I think that the Steelers will make the playoffs without Bill Cowher. I know he is sitting right next to me on the set, but this year?s team is better.”

? CBS analyst Boomer Esiason
