It seemed like it was going to be so easy. In his first series with his new team, Ravens quarterback Steve McNair led the first-team offense down the field for a touchdown in the preseason opener against the Giants.
A week later, the euphoria has slightly faded. Despite the fact that the Ravens won 20-10 over the Philadelphia Eagles last Thursday, there is a glaring concern: The red zone.

After holding the ball for more than 20 minutes in the first half against the Eagles, the first-team unit came away with just three points, scoring no touchdowns inside the 20-yard-line on three trips.
There was plenty of positives to be found in the game, including the bond between McNair and former Tennessee Titans teammate, receiver Derrick Mason. The two hooked up seven times during the first half. Plus, running back Jamal Lewis looked strong, although he might miss the remaining two preseason games with injuries.
“It felt good, but when we get in the red zone, we?ve got to score points,” Mason said.
McNair said there was some concern.
“Well, I think we did a good job from the 20 to the 20, but we?ve got to finish now,” McNair said. “That?s the main ingredient. There?s no sense in going out there and taking six or seven minutes off the clock and not getting anything from it.”
