It seems that the “go along, get along” message of Coke’s Super Bowl ad — in which political opponents James Carville and Bill Frist share the soft drink on Segways in front of the White House, on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial and at a hot dog stand on Connecticut Avenue — is already trickling down.
At a D.C. Council debate Tuesday over legislation that will pay to store the belongings of residents evicted from their homes, Council member David Catania was the lone “no” vote.
This didn’t sit well with Ward 8’s Marion Barry, who called Catania “callous,” “insensitive” and “inhumane.”
“I do take exception when you somehow suggest I have a callous heart,” Catania replied.
Council Chairman Vincent Gray had heard enough. “May I invite the two of you to have this discussion over a Coca-Cola?” he asked.
