It is very early in the NHL season but it sure looks like last years Caps success has carried over to 2008. As a matter of fact the Nationals would love to have the Caps ratings.
According to ratings information released by Comcast SportsNet and the Washington Capitals the team is averaging a very impressive 1.3 rating or about 30,000 households per telecast thus far this season.
The team’s season opener at the Atlanta Thrashers on Oct. 10 received a 1.2 rating in Washington, D.C., (27,600 households), which is a 140% increase in viewing households over the 2007 season opener. The Capitals highest rated game on Comcast SportsNet this season was against the rival Pittsburgh Penguins on Oct. 16. That game received a 1.7 rating in Washington, D.C., equal to 39,100 households.
The Redskins still rule the Nation’s Capital drawing in excess of 200,000 homes weekly on either FOX or CBS.
However the Nationals would love to have the Caps numbers and it is clear that the city is taken with the Big Red Machine or as Rock The Red…
The next three games are on the road….
