Should the NBA just crown the King now?

The MVP race in the NBA might be over by the All-Star break. That is, if Cleveland’s LeBron James puts up a few more weeks like this past one, when he took care of some of his top competitors (with two of his top teammates sidelined).

Here’s his week:

Jan. 22 » James scored 37 points — including 12 straight at one point in the fourth quarter — to help beat the Lakers, 93-87. Kobe Bryant scored 31 points, but was four of 15 in the second half. With the score tied at 87, James gave Cleveland the lead for good with a layup.

Jan. 23 » James finished with 37 points, 12 assists and nine rebounds vs. Oklahoma City. He assisted on Daniel Gibson‘s game-winning 3-pointer with 8.7 seconds remaining. On the Thunder’s final possession, he blocked Kevin Durant‘s shot.

Monday » While doubling Dwyane Wade, James deflected a behind-the-back pass, kept the ball from going out of bounds, drove hard to the basket where he was fouled. He made both free throws (for 32 points) with 4.1 seconds left. He covered Wade on his missed shot at the buzzer.
