The way the Wiz are staring at 13-10, not 7-16

The Wizards have reached new lows as they carry a six-game losing streak into Friday’s tangle with the equally dismal Warriors (7-18). Speaking of which, why again is this train wreck of a game being nationally televised (10:30 p.m., ESPN)?

But, keep in mind, here’s all it would’ve taken for Washington to be 13-10 instead of 7-16:

Dec. 4 vs. Toronto (lost by 2) » Instead of searching for contact, Gilbert Arenas simply drives past Jarrett Jack for an easy game-tying dunk, sending the Wizards into a second overtime, where they prevail.

Dec. 6 at Detroit (lost by 4) » Arenas scores more than 12 points, instead of eight.

Dec. 10 vs. Boston (lost by 2) » Arenas makes 50 percent (three) of his six free throw attempts, instead of 17 percent (one).

Dec. 12 vs. Indiana (lost by 1) » Brendan Haywood actually blocks out Mike Dunleavy on Tyler Hansbrough‘s intentionally missed free throw.

Dec. 14 at L.A. Clippers (lost by 2) » Earl Boykins doesn’t foul Baron Davis on his prayer three-pointer at the end of the third quarter.

Dec. 16 at Sacramento (lost by 3) » Arenas doesn’t save his first crossover dribble for the final possession of the game.
