Trevor Booker to play in Israel during lockout

Trevor Booker became the latest NBA player and first Washington Wizard to sign a contract to play overseas next season while the NBA is locked out.

Booker’s management agency, ASM Sports, tweeted Thursday that Booker has signed with Bnei HaSharon in Israel.

The 6-foot-7 forward from Clemson averaged 5.3 points and 3.9 rebounds during his rookie season with the Wizards, one that ended prematurely in March after he suffered a broken right foot. Booker underwent surgery but he has since recovered.

National Basketball Players Association executive director Billy Hunter said Wednesday in Baltimore that he didn’t think there would be a 2011-12 season.
