Watching NCAA tournament could prove costly

If you’re planning on following every March Madness moment on your computer at work, it’s going to cost you. Hopefully not your job, but Turner has set a $3.99 charge for live NCAA tournament coverage on digital devices.

There still will be games available online for free. Any contest airing on CBS will be shown on CBSSports.com. And most viewers who get TBS, TNT and truTV on their cable or satellite systems also will be able to watch games online for no cost.

But will this set a precedent for charging for other March Madness packages in the future?

It was 73 years before Turner Sports and CBS Sports decided every NCAA tournament game should be available live in its entirety. Last year was great. Instead of CBS deciding which game warranted to be televised, the viewer was able to be in full control.

Now March Madness has the perfect television experience. Hopefully it won’t also have a fee in the future.
