Virginia Tech quarterback Logan Thomas is on the Maxwell Award watch list, one of five quarterbacks from the ACC named. The others are North Carolina’s Bryn Renner (West Springfield), North Carolina State’s Mike Glennon (Westfield), Clemson’s Tajh Boyd, and Florida State’s E.J. Manuel. The award goes to the nation’s top college football player.
In his first year as starter, Thomas accumulated a school-record 3,482 total yards, throwing 19 touchdown passes, and being named second-team all-ACC. After losing twice to Clemson, Virginia Tech (11-3) made it to the Sugar Bowl where it fell to Michigan State.
