Conversion was good for them

The Oakland Raiders took Ohio State quarterback Terrell Pryor in the supplemental draft, thereby surrendering their third-round pick in 2012. Scouts seem to think Pryor lacks the arm strength to be a successful NFL quarterback. But his size (6-foot-6, 235 pounds) and speed (40 yards in 4.36 seconds) could make him an intriguing player to develop at another position. Who are some top NFL players who converted to another position after playing quarterback in college?

Dan Reeves » An All-SEC quarterback at South Carolina, Reeves became an All-Pro running back in Dallas after he was signed as an undrafted free agent and was first converted to safety.

Marlin Briscoe » The first black quarterback to start a professional game had 14 touchdown passes in his rookie year in Denver. He was released in 1969 but resurfaced as an All-Pro receiver in Buffalo, then had several productive years as a wideout in Miami.

Freddie Solomon » After their success with Briscoe, the Dolphins added another quarterback via the draft, Solomon from the University of Tampa, and turned him into a Pro Bowl receiver. He finished his career with 371 catches, including 48 for touchdowns.

Antwaan Randle El » It seemed to be a reach when Pittsburgh selected the Indiana quarterback in the second round. But Randle El quickly became a return threat and multipurpose offensive weapon that the Steelers used to full effect.

Joshua Cribbs » A former record-breaking quarterback at Dunbar High (D.C.) and Kent State, Cribbs has become a two-time Pro Bowl returner and wideout for the Browns, who signed him as an undrafted free agent.
