Just as he did in the pool during the winter, Centreville senior Patrick Stevens is making waves on the soccer field this spring.
Leading with a team-high five goals, Stevens, who set a Concorde District record in the 50-yard freestyle and took home second- and third-place finishes in 50 and 100 free, respectively, at the Group AAA state swim meet, has scored in each of an unbeaten stretch of three games for the Wildcats (2-2-3).
Centreville started with a preseason scrimmage victory over West Springfield and a 3-3 tie with Langley in the regular-season opener, but they will be without senior defenders Italo Bianchi (foot) and Richard Ahiagbede (ankle) until at least next week.
Still, Centreville coach Jac Cicala said he doesn’t pay too much attention to the standings, especially with so many tough teams in the Concorde District.
“We’re pretty happy with where we are right now,” said Cicala. “I don’t know if we’re ready to be above the radar yet.”
