End of 3rd: Redskins 21, Eagles 16
1st Qtr | 2nd Qtr | 3rd Qtr | 4th Qtr
» The Eagles are not blitzing as much as anticipated. But they are generating pressure with their front four.
» Good job, again, by Jason Campbell on third downs keeping plays alive with his legs. His line is breaking down yet the Redskins have made big plays because of Campbell’s penchant for making plays happen after he’s been hit. The last two third downs on the touchdown drive both featured that scenario. The first time, Campbell bailed out Edwin Williams as he spun out of a tackle attempt and ran left and hit Devin Thomas for 35 yards. On the touchdown to Fred Davis, he ran from pressure, and with LB Joe Mays storming at him, thinking he would run, he hit Davis for the score.
» The Eagles tried to run a cutback to Brian Orakpo’s side on a first down play, with the Redskins in their nickel package. But Orakpo got off the block well
» London Fletcher had a terrific series on the second drive of the third quarter. Great read and stick on LeSean McCoy; helps when no one blocks you, but Fletcher closed fast and hard. On the next play, he drilled DeSean Jackson on a pass over the middle.
» The Redskins have not always done a great job in the run game today. However, they have remained committed to the run and that has helped. They are moving the ball enough to grind some clock and set up play-action throws.
» Big loss for the Eagles as DeSean Jackson is out with head and neck injuries, suffered on the hit by Fletcher. Tough to ask a little guy like that go over the middle and withstand the pounding.
» The Redskins look like the more confident team, not the one that is 3-7. But breakdowns, some little and some not so little, are keeping the Eagles around.
» The Eagles have gained 22 yards in the third quarter.
» Campbell missed another receiver wide open, this time Antwaan Randle El down the right seam. Trent Cole – once more – hit him as he threw. Cole is killing Levi Jones.
