Sightings
Sure, Donald Rumsfeld’s gone from office, but he has hardly disappeared from Washington. The former secretary of defense and his wife, Joyce, were spotted Wednesday night having dinner at Teatro Goldini with former Italian Defense Minister Antonio Martino and his wife. The foursome dined on Mezanune pasta, fritto misto, ribeye steak and handmade cookies with chocolates, and they washed it all down with some white wine.

Then, on Thursday, Rummy had lunch with former Pentagon press secretary Eric Ruff on the patio of Morton’s Steakhouse on Connecticut Avenue.
More sightings this week: New York Times and Georgetown denizen Maureen Dowd perusing the wares at the District Sample Sale on Wednesday along with her friend, cosmetic dermatologist Tina Alster. MoDo was seen shopping at Sugar, Urban Chic and Zelaya Shoes. Also on hand at the sale: last year’s Miss D.C., Kate Michael, and this year’s Miss D.C., Shayna Rudd.
Russell Crowe was spotted again, this time outside the Down Dog yoga studio in Georgetown. He wasn’t all that interested in the vigorous workouts the studio offers, but he did inquire about another relatedart —massage. He said the production team was in desperate need. Studio owner Patty Ivey was a leading Washington masseuse before founding Down Dog. Ommm!
And guess who you didn’t see Thursday? Kanye West. The hip-hop superstar, whose new CD “Graduation” hit stores Tuesday, canceled a scheduled signing appearance at the DTLR/Downtown Locker Room in Northeast D.C. Despite the snub, the store still told Yeas & Nays that his CD sold out at the store.
