One game, two broadcasts

Saturday night, from FedEx Field in Landover, the Ravens and the Redskins will get together for their annual preseason game. While it is just a preseason game for the teams, it is much more than that for the broadcast departments — it is a chance for Beltway Bragging rights.

It will be Rave TV vs. Redskins TV — both very proud very talented in-house broadcast units that produce award-winning shows and are responsible for the preseason telecasts.

OK, let’s talk about the broadcast.

Let me tell you that we are spoiled in this area because both broadcast departments do not scrimp on production or on talent. They do the preseason with the same quality as the major networks. Rave TV has the FOX broadcast team of Dick Stockton, Moose Johnson and Tony Siragusa meanwhile Redskins TV boasts local broadcasters Mike Patrick and Joe Theismann, who worked over 15 years together on ESPN Sunday Night Football.

I can tell you that most local matchup broadcasts do not have such quality talent in both announcer booths.

Things get underway with three pregame shows:

Comcast Sports Net AT 7 p.m.: Will have a live show from their new on site studio outside FedEx Field. Chick Hernandez, Ray Brown and Carol Maloney will be handling the pregame show. There will also be reports from Kelli Johnson on the Redskins and Brett Harris on the Ravens from inside the stadium.

FOX45, MASN, WUSA9 AT 7:30: Baltimore will have Ravens Kick Off with Bruce Cunningham, while Brett Haber and the gang will have Redskins Tailgate in D.C.

FOX45, MASN, CSN, WUSA9 AT 8: The game between the Ravens and the Redskins complete with Baltimore fans having their broadcast and Washington fans having theirs.

CSN, WUSA9 AFTER THE GAME: The postgame shows will be on CSN and WUSA 9 both doing live shows directly after the game is over.

There will be no Ravens television post game show until the season begins. Ravens Post Game Xtra will be seen after all Ravens games once the season starts on MASN.

Don’t forget about baseball: With the Orioles and Nationals both playing games that air on MASN concurrent with the Ravens-Redskins game, it will require you to do a little home work.

However, this will make things simple for local viewers: The O’s-Twins game will be on WJZ-13 in the Baltimore are and the Nats-Rockies game can be seen on MY20 in the greater Washington area.
