Showdown in Baltimore Co. West

The Franklin High School boys lacrosse team will host Catonsville on Thursday in the first Baltimore County west division game of the season for both teams.

Franklin (5-0) is coming off a 12-6 win at Fallston on Wednesday. Franklin head coach Scot Laudeman said that this season?s team has been easy to coach because of a core of seniors that has been playing together since rec league lacrosse.

Franklin seniors Tom Montanye (the team?s leading scorer), Jesse Headley, Matt Higgins, Rob Broczkowski and Geordy Clements have played together since they were in the Reisterstown rec program.

“[Catonsville] plays very smart,” Laudeman said. “I think they have been overlooked this year.”

Catonsville (6-2) fields a tough senior defense and senior face-off specialist, Kevin Corcoran, with the rest of the positions filled by underclassman.

Jeff Mohler, Catonville?s head coach, said that freshman goalie Alex Bragg is playing beyond his years. “He is getting better every game. He does not play like a freshman,” he said.
