McNabb, where’s the Philly grudge?

Pardon us if we don’t quite believe this statement from Donovan McNabb:

“It won’t be any different than playing the Giants or Dallas.”

He was talking about Philadelphia. The team he played 11 seasons with. The team that just traded him, deciding a younger guy was the better option.

And it won’t be any different?

“Those who know me know I’m not a high or low kind of guy,” he said. “I’m pretty much even keel.”

Maybe so, but it’s hard to imagine he won’t be a little bit anxious for his first return to Philadelphia; or even facing the Eagles for the first time in Washington. It’s already a hot topic. A number of Philadelphia reporters attended his presser (some mocking other people’s questions; don’t know where that city gets its reputation) and ESPN broadcasted it live.

One person even asked if McNabb would eventually enter the Hall of Fame as a Redskin. Seriously. It was asked.

But it was clear in listening to McNabb that he would have preferred to remain an Eagle. He did not tear up thinking of his time there; in fact, he was remarkably composed.

“I always believed in finishing where you started,” McNabb said. “It says a lot about the things you were able to accomplish.”

We’ll revisit this topic with McNabb before “you know what” game. He probably won’t say anything different. How he’s feeling, though, will be dramatically different.
