Querying Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke at a House Budget Committee hearing Thursday, Rep. Marcy Kaptur, D-Ohio, prefaced one of her questions this way: “Seeing as how you were former CEO of Goldman Sachs. …”

“No, no, no,” protested Bernanke, laughing and raising his hand. “You’re confusing me with the treasury secretary.”
“I got the wrong firm?” she asked. Nope, wrong guy.
“Oh. Paulson,” she finally stated, as the light bulb flickered on.
“Where were you, sir?” she asked Bernanke.
“I was the CEO of the Princeton Economics Department,” he explained.
“I’m sorry,” Kaptur replied. “Well, I’m glad you clarified that for the record.”
The National Republican Congressional Committee immediately made hay out of the exchange, saying that “Democrats are failing Economics 101.”
