Politics can be a horse race, and no one plays the game better than former Bush strategist Karl Rove.
So we had to do a double take when we heard of “Rove,” a six-year-old thoroughbred running in the Kentucky circuit.

“Rove” made his long-delayed return to the track last week at Kentucky’s Turfway Park. Despite being one of the favorites (he leaped out of the gates as the third choice in a field of seven), he broke slowly and trailed the field throughout and ended up dead last.
Boy, with those Roves, horseplay sure can get them in trouble.
Craig Brownstein, Edelman D.C.’s media relations guru and horseracing analyst extraordinaire, assessed Rove’s troubles thusly: “I’ve been following and betting on Rove for years but have yet to see much of a return on my investments. He was so slow getting home in his last race that he tiptoed back into the barn that evening so he wouldn’t wake the other horses.”
For those who want to buy political power, fear not: “Rove” the horse is up for sale, with a price tag of $15,000.
