Republicans repeat, Democrats duplicate
If John McCain becomes president, we can all expect to hear the phrase “My friends…” over and over again. The Arizona senator has become famous for repeating the phrase endlessly during speeches, townhalls and campaign events (the Washington Post recently counted McCain using the phrase upwards of 20 times at a townhall event).
But, if we get Joe Biden as vice president, we can expect a different kind of Chinese water torture: We’ll be beaten over the head with Biden’s endless tendency to begin his deep thoughts with, “Look…”
Take, for instance, Biden’s Sunday appearance on “Meet the Press,” when — on 27 different occasions — Biden utilized the introduction:
“Look, she’s a smart, tough politician….”
“Look, I, I live with a lot of smart women.”
“Look, that’s for voters to decide.”
“Look, she had a great speech.”
“Look, the bottom line here is that…”
“Look, here’s going to be the key…”
“Look, the fact of the matter is…”
And that’s not the first time. On Biden’s last solo “Meet” appearance, he used “Look…” a whopping 22 times.
