Mike Bozeman’s rookie campaign as George Washington head coach is about to get a lot harder.
“He has a challenge himself as well as his team,” said Tennessee head coach Pat Summitt, who will put her 988 career victories against Bozeman’s six when the Volunteers (5-1) take the Smith Center court tonight.
The Colonials (6-2) have won four straight since two losses on the road in Kentucky last month, and Bozeman has already put his unique stamp on the program since taking over for Joe McKeown.
The new George Washington is up-tempo and features a remarkably deep rotation — ten different players are averaging at least 10 minutes per game.
“I’m not afraid to say I have the pieces to be really good,” said Bozeman before the season began. “I think getting to the NCAA Tournament, having those experiences with Joe and letting me be so deeply involved in that and those runs. I think we have the players to duplicate that success and take it a step further.”
