Last year it was David Habarugira, although he didn’t really establish himself and isn’t in the team’s plans anymore. This year it’s defender-midfielder Floribert N’Galula – a.k.a. Flo – who D.C. United has inked from the Low Countries of Europe. What do they have in common? Anderlecht in Belgium. United GM Dave Kasper must be taking French or Flemish lessons…
Picture of him in a Manchester United jersey here (because if you ever wore that jersey officially, that’s all that matters!)
Now, N’Galula has a nice pedigree, namely time with Manchester United’s youth and reserve sides. The Congo-born 22-year-old started in Belgium before heading to England, where he made an 18-man first team roster twice but saw no action. He went from there to Randers in Denmark and most recently to Sparta Rotterdam in the Netherlands.
“We are very excited about the pedigree Flo brings to D.C. United. Flo impressed during his post-season trial with us and we feel he has the physical tools and versatility to be very successful in our League,” said Kasper in a statement.
Earlier today United also announced the official move of Chad Ashton into the job of technical director.
