Jones dishes on Hatch, Obama, 50-year hangovers

Q&A with Quincy

While in town for the annual Grammys on the Hill event, legendary artist and producer Quincy Jones sat down with Yeas & Nays to discuss all sorts of topics.

On Sen. Orrin Hatch: “Hatch sends me Fed-Exes of 20 CDs of his songs. He’s a very dedicated person.”

On Washington: “I think I’ve been here 9 million times.  … I feel like I was born here because I’ve been here so much.”

On Sen. Barack Obama (even though Jones has already endorsed Sen. Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign): “I think Sen. Obama is absolutely fantastic.” Should Obama get the nomination, “I’ll be with him, too.”

On Sen. Clinton’s 2008 prospects: “I don’t know what her chances are,” Jones said. “But it’s not about that. It’s about believing in something and supporting it.”

On Sen. TedKennedy: “It’s funny hearing these people talk about being 50 years old. I’ve had hangovers longer than that. So has Ted.”

On funny political terms: “What the hell is a Republican whip? … You know what that sounds like. …”

On politicians: “You talk about rappers. The people in this town make Jay-Z and 50 Cent sound like Mike Tyson.”
