(#1) Alabama vs. (#10) Arkansas
| vs. |
Razorback Stadium The defending national champion Crimson Tide would prefer a home game in such a crucial battle. However, it’s hard to complain about the weather in the Ozarks Saturday. Stifling humidity and 90-degree heat will be long gone! Low 80s, low humidity and plenty of sunshine will rule this showdown. |
Temple vs. (#23) Penn St.
| vs. |
Beaver Stadium Just in time for the first Saturday of Fall, temperatures will actually feel like it. Replacing summer’s 80s and 90s will be cool, breezy 60s Saturday. Winds up to 15 mph may become a small nuisance to deep passes and longer field-goal attempts. |
(#16) Stanford vs. Notre Dame
| vs. |
Notre Dame Stadium The Cardinal should feel blessed to make a trip to South Bend in late September, rather than November. Highs will hold in the low 60s for this tilt Saturday with “filtered sunshine”. For this Bay Area team, this beats a November game in the 40s with high winds. |
UCLA vs. (#7) Texas
| vs. |
Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium The first Saturday of Fall will have a distinctly summer feel deep in the heart of Texas. Low 90s, a humid air mass, and a chance of t-storms will all be in play in Austin Saturday afternoon. |
(#12) S. Carolina vs. (#17) Auburn
| vs. |
Jordan-Hare Stadium This “prime time” SEC battle will avoid the low 90s of the day. However, remnant thunderstorms may rumble over parts of Alabama Saturday evening. |
(#24) Oregon St. vs. (#3) Boise St.
| vs. |
Bronco Stadium While Saturday will continue a warm stretch in the Treasure Valley, an early evening kickoff should avoid the peak of the mid to upper 80s heat, which may make life a little less taxing for the cool-weather Beavers. I wonder how much heat blue turf absorbs? |
