George Washington’s two-game losing streak last month is fading from memory. But it’s been so long since the Colonials have played, so too are two straight wins following that skid.
With their vanquished opponent in last year’s NCAA second round, No. 12 Texas A&M, coming to town and seeking revenge Thursday, the Colonials hope to start where they left off 10 days ago this afternoon against dangerous-to-overlook Loyola Marymount.
“Defensively, it was probably our best effort of the year,” said Colonials head coach Joe McKeown of George Washington’s victory over Villanova on Dec. 8, the Wildcats only loss to date.
The Colonials have used the break to get healthy, as second-leading scorer Antelia Parrish, day-to-day with an ankle injury, could since her first minutes in five games. Jazmine Adair, for one, has thrived in Parrish’s absence, going 4-for-4 from the field against Villanova.
“The last three games have been her three best games, probably of the last year and a half or so,” said McKeown. “Against Texas A&M last year to go to the final 16 she was great — but she’s played really well. We need to get her to shoot more.”
