When Brandon McDonald joined D.C. United in late June, having been acquired from San Jose in exchange for allocation money, his future appeared up in the air, given his previously professed intention to explore the international market once his contract was up at the end of this season.
That’s not a concern any longer after United signed the central defender to a new contract, one that will keep him in Washington at least the next two seasons, with an option after that, according to his representative at James Grant Sports.
McDonald, 25, has started all nine MLS matches for D.C. since his acquisition, helping the club go 3-2-4 during that stretch, including four shutouts.
