Should be good for Wizards in HD this season

The Washington Wizards are going all-in with HD this season as part of the announcement of their 2010-11 broadcast schedule. Excellent news, especially for those who cover the team but don’t get to hit the road.

Viewers will also get almost as much Steve Buckhantz/Phil Chenier/Chris Miller as they please, too, since only the season opener at Orlando on Oct. 28 and a visit to Atlanta on Thanksgiving (Nov. 25) will be broadcast exclusively on TNT.

CSN will also broadcast a trio of preseason games (Oct. 5 at Dallas, and home games against Atlanta and Milwaukee on Oct. 12 and 14).

A snippet from yesterday’s release: “Comcast SportsNet, along with the Wizards’ national broadcast partners, will provide area fans with live coverage of the team’s complete schedule throughout the 2010-11 NBA regular season.  CSN’s television coverage of the upcoming Wizards season includes 73 games on Comcast SportsNet and 10 games on Comcast SportsNet Plus. This season marks the first time that Comcast SportsNet Plus will be available in HD to all cable and satellite providers throughout the region. As details regarding Comcast SportsNet Plus HD carriage and channel location become available, viewers are asked to check with service providers or go to CSNwashington.com or CSNbaltimore.com for information.”

Well, then, I guess I still do have a couple questions, given that Comcast SportsNet Plus in my Alexandria City home never quite worked last year. Oh, I could see Channel 77, but there was no game there. Hopefully, there’s less of a chance of that happening with Plus headed into HD territory…
