Scoop: Gisele Bundchen and Tom Brady engaged

Watching the Giants blow their shot at a Super Bowl repeat wasn’t even the highlight of Tom Brady’s weekend. The sidelined New England Patriots quarterback got engaged to his supermodel girlfriend of more than a year, Gisele Bundchen.

Despite rumors that the former Serra High School of San Mateo star had popped the question during the Christmas holidays, the couple didn’t officially become betrothed until his bended-knee proposal on Friday in L.A.

“He asked and she accepted,” a source sums up, rather unromantically, to People.

As for wedding plans, “the couple is discussing a huge fashionista event in the spring or a more intimate and quicker ceremony in Costa Rica, where Gisele has a home,” the insider reveals.

Though their romance initially raised some eyebrows — seeing as Tom’s then-girlfriend, Bridget Moynahan, was pregnant with his son, John, when he met the Brazilian beauty — the photogenic pair have settled into a down-to-earth domestic routine. (Well, as down-to-earth as a star quarterback and a supermodel can be.)

Congratulations! Hope they start procreating right away — their gorgeous offspring would give Shiloh Jolie-Pitt a run for her money.

Amy: Divorcing

Note to Amy Winehouse: The next time you brag about getting some action with your hot new boyfriend, you might not want to do it on the record. To a reporter. For a newspaper. That your husband reads.

No sooner had the “Rehab” singer gushed to the U.K.’s News of the World about her St. Lucia sexcapades with new boy-toy Josh Bowman (she even informed the reporter they had just been intimate: “Can’t you tell?”) then, back home in Britain, her incarcerated husband, Blake Fielder-Civil, filed for divorce, citing (duh) her affair. His lawyer confirmed to news outlets that Blake had asked him “to commence divorce proceedings on the grounds of Amy’s adultery.”

And her own published words could come back to haunt her in court: The chanteuse blithely told the News that “for the time being I’ve just forgotten I’m even married.”

Of course, Amy’s attorneys could always argue that with all the brain cells she’s killed, she can’t be held responsible for forgetting things.

Jeremy’s Shame

Jeremy Piven says the skeptical public reaction to his abrupt departure from Broadway was “embarrassing” — but insists his case of mercury poisoning was a serious sickness, not an excuse to quit his role.

“The reality is, I was brought to my knees by this illness,” the “Entourage” star insists to People, less than a month after leaving the cast of the hit “Speed-the-Plow” revival. “It feels like the heaviest bout of mono you’ve ever had in your life. It was completely overwhelming to the point where you get vertigo and it’s not healthy.”

Though director David Mamet snarked at the time that Jeremy’s high mercury levels must mean he was “leaving show business to pursue a career as a thermometer,” the actor insists it was strictly on doctors’ orders that he bowed out.

“This was the dream of my career, to do Broadway,” Jeremy declares. “The last thing I wanted to do was leave the show. I’m so proud of the work that was done there.”

And here we thought the recession was the greatest threat to Broadway’s future. Turns out, it’s sushi.

Megan Walks Alone

Why wasn’t fiancé Brian Austin Green with Megan Fox as she walked the Golden Globes red carpet? The sultry “Transformers” star showed up dateless to the ceremony and didn’t even bother to make excuses for her man, telling “E!,” “I think he’s probably working on music. I don’t think he cares.”

“He doesn’t want to be here,” Megan explained. “He doesn’t want to be my date. He’s a man. He has an ego.”

OK, but what man’s ego wouldn’t be gratified by being seen on Megan Fox’s arm? Get it together, David Silver!
