Binghamton fired men’s basketball coach Mark Macon on Monday after he compiled a 24-68 record over three seasons, including 2-29 this year. In a related story, the coach who left the Bearcats buried in scandal before Macon inherited the team, Kevin Broadus, appears to be back in a primary role on John Thompson III’s staff at Georgetown. Broadus was a key assistant coach when Thompson took the Hoyas to the Final Four in 2007, and he turned around the Bearcats the following two seasons. But player arrests and dismissals crashed the program just as quickly.
While an NCAA investigation of Broadus found no major violations during his two-year tenure at Binghamton — he took a $1.2 million payout to resign — Georgetown specifically announced that he wouldn’t be recruiting when he was rehired in June 2011 as an assistant.

But with Robert Kirby reportedly leaving Thompson’s staff for LSU, Broadus is expected to be back on the trail. There are many who are sure to be watching him closely.
