Somewhere in the stretch run of the softball season, Severna Park (15-4 overall, 12-3 league) head coach Jeff Shepherd and his squad found the drive they had lost earlier in the year.
“In the beginning of the year, things were looking really good,” Shepherd said. “In the middle of the year, we began to make some uncharacteristic mistakes. There was a point when we were counting ourselves out of the county championships.”
Now, the Falcons are back in the AnneArundel County Championship hunt, after taking the school?s first county softball title last season.
“I think we may be a little better than we were,” Shepherd said of this year?s team. “We definitely hit better than we did last year.”
The winner of Monday?s late contest between Severna Park and Northeast (15-3 overall, 12-3 league) will battle Chesapeake in Thursday?s 5:15 p.m. title game at Randazzo Park in Severn.
