The Major League Soccer Players Union does it for the greater good of its membership, but it can’t be easy for most MLS players to see their humble salaries revealed to all.
With that intro, here’s what we’ve got for D.C. United this season. Most notably, new forward Rafael is on a base compensation of $220,000, with $284,625 guaranteed. Also, Chris Pontius, who signed a new deal last season, now earns $330,000 base, $361,000 guaranteed. Dejan Jakovic, who also signed a new contract during the offseason, is up to $280,000 in base salary, $303,341 guaranteed. Goalkeeper Bill Hamid is easily the most undercompensated, at $75,000 base, $89,750 guaranteed.
